BCCI TO ACCEPT ADDITION OF TWO MORE IPL TEAMS - Reports
IPL is almost a festival now in India and for all the cricket fans. The cash rich T20 league was a huge success even in this pandemic. Initially there were problems with the conduct of IPL as the Title sponsor VIVO pulled out due to huge backlash the company and the BCCI was facing. The reason of the backlash being Indo-China faceoff in the Ladakh sector.
But the problems did not persist for long as an Indian company Dream 11 came in as the Title sponsor of IPL 2020. The Indian cricket board could not earn a single penny from the gate-money as spectators were not allowed, still BCCI managed to earn a profit of approximately 4000 crores due to the huge viewership of the T20 extravaganza on the TV.
BCCI TO ACCEPT ADDITION OF TWO NEW TEAMS
Till the 2020 edition of the IPL, there were 8 teams. But as per reports, BCCI is going to approve the addition of two more teams in the next Annual General Meeting which is all set to take place on December 24th this year.
IPL 2021 DECISIONS
According to a report in Cricbuzz, the Indian Cricket Board has listed 23 matters which are to be discussed in the next AGM. It is likely that the cricket board may take some major decisions regarding the IPL 2021 as only four months are left for the next season.
Incase the BCCI approves the two new teams then it is very obvious that Mega Auctions will have to take place, otherwise mini auctions will take place. Earlier, all other franchises were against the addition of new teams as they will have very less time to prepare for the mega auctions.
